It goes without saying, but let’s get it out of the way: 2020 was a weird year.

The fashion industry, like so many others, was thrown into disarray as a result of COVID-19, with shows cancelled and production schedules abandoned. There are collections that will never be sold, others that will never be shown, and there are doubtless dozens of collaborations that were in the works that never saw the light of day—or that have been pushed back indefinitely. Collaborations have ruled streetwear and fashion for a few years now, but this year felt somewhat slower—perhaps that speaks to the quality of the collaborations and not the quantity.

There were, however, a number that stood out and that will likely stand the test of time—for their design, but also for what they stood for and represented. Whether these embodied the coming together of fashion and streetwear (again), drop culture reaching corporate America or just will likely be discussed for years to come, these are the 12 collaborations that stood out the most in 2020.
