As a pioneer, not just in New York’s style scene, but the fashion world at large, Helmut Lang’s impact is something that echos well into menswear’s modern day. Lang’s renowned reputation comes thanks to his innovative takes on forward-facing, but still classically appealing clothing. It’s not hyperbolic to note that Lang defined '90s minimalism, influencing countless designers that have come in his wake.
Looking back on Lang’s historic design archive, it’s amazing how pieces that were created over a decade—and, in some cases, nearly two decades—ago still feel fresh and contemporary. It’s in that spirit that Helmut Lang has launched its “Re-Edition” collection, a re-release of 15 of the designer's most iconic and memorable garments. As fans and archivists ourselves, Helmut Lang has teamed up with Grailed to showcase this exciting release.
Consisting of garments like the Slashed Elbow Sweater (1997), the Painter Jeans (1998), the Astro Moto Jacket (1999) and the Reverse Cowboy T-Shirt (2004), this project is perfect for both long-term Lang lovers and newly-acquainted archival fans.
