Ayo! I’m Julian and am the CTO and co-founder of Grailed. I help manage our engineering efforts and work to keep all of our systems online.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

Expressive knitwear is in full effect and is my guess at what will steal the show this season. WFH life has me wearing more dynamic pants like those from Veilance, where normal life in the cooler weather would have called for raw denim or leather.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

Remote life is in full swing so I’m focused on being comfy. I’ve been keeping my eye on all Snow Peak that hits the marketplace, as well as Moncler steals.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

I have a thing for cashmere Boris Bidjan Saberi sweaters. Well-designed and constructed sweaters are a nice combo of luxury, comfort and can be worn in all sorts of environments; a sweater to layer with a blazer at holiday parties, to keep it simple at work or rock under a leather jacket.

For me, they’re the ultimate winter daily driver for work. I try to pick these up at every available opportunity. Plus they age super well. Guaranteed hit.

One thing worth noting: If the material is nice enough, you don’t need to wear anything underneath the sweater but I recommend tank tops.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

This year is like no other. I think it’s a good opportunity to focus on upgrading all the basics in your rotation. Given that social life (as we know it) is on pause, my focus is on knowing that I’ll get a fit off and be cozy without having to think about it. Go for a dope sweater and comfy-yet-dynamic pants. Think about adding some slipper drip. You get it.

I’m Jon—Head of Product at Grailed. I work with the Design and Product Management teams to define and execute the strategy and roadmap. I’m new to the company as of this crazy 2020. As far as my style goes, it’s all black everything with a Saint Laurent Paris-inspired western slant and a lot of extreme metal merch.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I was about to get on the fleece train but decided to go for a Veilance Conduit LT jacket and vest instead.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?
I’ve been looking at a few listings from brands like Cloak, Obscur, Kazuyuki Kumagai’s Attachment—along with some classic black metal merch. Even still though, my top wish list item is a road trip to a warmer climate. I’d love to pick up a few things for the pool, including pieces from Saint Laurent, Orlebar Brown, Jacques Marie Mage and Rick Owens.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

I always have another leather jacket on the list and haven’t checked the box on a shearling—I’ve been eyeing a classic from Acne… or a denim shearling from Saint Laurent Paris.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

Almost everyone needs better cooking utensils—if you do it right, that’s a gift they’ll actually use. America’s Test Kitchen will do all the research for you.

I’m still a big boy and I’ve still got long arms, but my style spends a lot more time on “easy street” this year. Comfort is king. Oh, and me? I’ve been at Grailed for two years and change—your resident (Senior) Product Analyst. I crunch numbers while wearing everything from Outdoor Voices to A.P.C. to Alyx.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I like what shops like Casablanca have been up to. To me, it’s all about getting ensconced in comfort and style at the same time.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I need the Fall/Winter 2020 Casablanca uniform, but I’m also eyeing some Dries Van Noten overcoats.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

THIS FUCKING COAT UGH IT’S BEAUTIFUL.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

Don’t lowball. Just don’t do it. Be nice, inquire about price flexibility, and just wait. You’ll lose out on some, but you’ll also scoop deals. Patience, non-gendered royalty!

I’ve been at Grailed for over four years helping to grow and manage our community team. My personal style since quarantine has been pretty minimal but I still like to dress it up on occasion even if it’s just for myself.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I’ve been enjoying the rise of NY brands like Aimé Leon Dore and Noah and finding a renewed interest in Our Legacy, Stussy and vintage clothing. I’m getting back into some traditional American staples—vintage Levi’s, oxford shirts, loafers. For winter, I’ll be investing in some nice wool and cashmere sweaters with some tailored outerwear and outdoor gear for some fun. Whenever things reopen, I know I’ll be well-dressed for most occasions with this uniform.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

Soft sweaters and oversized outerwear. I just want to be cozy.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

An oversized Fostex MA-1 jacket, the brand Raf Simons used for some of his iconic early bombers. The early Raf Simons, Helmut Lang and Hedi Slimane aesthetic still resonates the most for me after all these years.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

The most sustainable grail is one that already exists in your wardrobe. An easy way to give back and make room for any new gifts is to sell anything that no longer holds value for you (or give it to a friend who would cherish it).

I’ve been at Grailed since 2016. My job entails engaging with the community and working cross-functionally to make sure they’re heard. I also work on BLM and diversity initiatives we want to take on as a company.

My personal style is elevated scumbro, “CEO of high-low.”

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

Nope. I’ll continue wearing what I always wear. Because of COVID, I’m staying in NYC and not flying to L.A. for the holidays. It’s sad not being able to see my family, but I, including everyone else, must do what’s responsible.

I’ll be wearing Uniqlo Heattech under my musty, old Comme des Garçons jackets and Dickies pants while working from home. Masks are a mandatory trend.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I’d like some thicker jackets, maybe some older Stone Island (shoutout Greg Babcock, our Editor-in-Chief). Always need more Carhartt—but only OG Carhart, never Carhartt WIP.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

Needles chore coat maybe? I also want more comfortable pants to WFH in. Pleats Please...please?

Dress what you’re comfortable in and elevate it slowly. Go for the pieces no one else does and be confident that you can pull it off. Don’t worry about the trends—it’d suck to be a trend-ender.

Hey, I’m Wyatt and I’ve been working in trust and safety on Grailed for two years now. This includes managing remote moderators, weighing in on seller-sided product changes and making sure that our users are protected as they make transactions.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I’m married to streetwear, but I left NYC for Colorado during COVID so I’m getting more interested in gear that actually improves the lifestyle. I’m seeing more mid-layers getting attention like the Arc’teryx Atom LT or even vintage military surplus down liners making a return from last winter.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

My favorites here are the Better Gift Shop and Arc’teryx collaborative Atom LT jacket (I have the same jacket and I’ve been rocking it daily) and the Chrome Hearts customized Birkenstock Arizonas. I know the Boston is the more popular model right now, but the Arizona is my go to.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over

I’d love to get an Arc’teryx Alpha SV this season. This is as good as a hard shell can get. I know it’s overkill for a casual trip to Trader Joe’s, but an Alpha SV would round off 2020’s pickups nicely.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

I’d advise Grailed users to buy more into products that resonate with them and their real life use cases rather than a trend being set by someone in an entirely different lifestyle or location.

I’ve been at Grailed for almost a year on the Marketing team. I’m the SEO Manager, otherwise known as the person that works on getting Grailed on Page 1 for various search terms on Google so you shoppers don’t have to click through to Page 5 to find your grails. My personal style is pretty basic compared to my co-workers. I’m an all-black-head-to-toe-leather-jacket-regardless-of-the-weather-outside-type person, and I’ll probably be obsessed with anything that Bella Hadid wears and consider it a grail.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I’ve always been a combat boot enthusiast, so I’m living for all the new boots I’m seeing for this year. I probably don’t need any more identical black boots though.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

Really trying to expand my oversized hoodie and knit sweater collection. I purchased a few of my favorite hoodies a year and half to threeish years ago when I was going through a more fitted and crop top phase, so they’re either not long enough for my taste now or I’ve already cropped them (SMH).

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

Our colleague Jing is going to judge me so hard for this, but the Chrome Hearts cross patch denim jeans.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

Get it done early! You don’t need any more anxiety in 2020 refreshing the USPS tracking page to see if your gifts will arrive on time. Also, Grailed has the best selection, obviously.

I joined Grailed in December 2016 as a Software Engineer. About two years ago I transitioned into the role of Engineering Manager, where I get to collaborate and organize PDE teams in order to achieve company goals.

My personal style has evolved a lot since joining Grailed! I have learned so much from the team about shopping, putting together an outfit and having fun with clothing. If I had to put a name to my style, I’d say I oscillate between art teacher and woman-on-a-farm-who-happens-to-be-in-the-city.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I love a good soft, cozy outfit that still makes me feel stylish. I recently got the ribbed trousers from Entireworld which completely fit that bill–they feel like sweats but they look fantastically chic (to me at least).

Another trick I enjoy is a sheer top in the winter when I want to feel fancy but also want to feel covered up when it’s chilly.

I don’t really have a good pulse on trends, though. That’s when I ask gals at Grailed for advice.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

The sheer top I do have is on its last legs, so I am looking for a long sleeve, flowy sheer top (probably a button up). Could also do a more fitting one, now that I think about it.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

I wish I could wear loafers, but my feet are so sensitive. There’s a pair of lug sole loafers that look cute to me, but I can’t be confident that they will properly break in, and I don’t like to feel uncomfortable in my shoes!

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

One thing I’ve learned at Grailed is that if you buy a nice item, you can resell it and use that small “commission” to buy another one (second-hand or new). The resale market is strong and sites like Grailed and Heroine can allow for more sustainable buying and purchasing practices, for us as individuals and the world at large.

My name is Jing, I’ve worked here for a little over a year. I’m on the growth marketing team, where we focus on acquiring and re-engaging users via platforms like Google and Facebook. My personal style is kind of a mix-and-match of designer and avant-garde pieces (I like nice things and I wear black a lot).

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

Oversized everything for coziness, especially oversized coats, if anyone buys a coat this year at all.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I’ve got a few things. First, I want anything a guy can pull off from Peter Do. Second, I’d like a few rings from Tom Wood. Finally, I could always have more blazers.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

A Prada bowling shirt.

Invest in classics and indispensable pieces that don’t go out of style. This is so you won’t beat yourself up when “new season” garments become mad cheap when the season’s over.

Cedric here. I’m currently on both the Social Media and Partnerships teams here at Grailed, and I’ve been with the company in one way or another for almost three years now (sheesh!). My style consistently revolves around cool vintage stuff I’ve amassed over the years, with hitters from brands like South2 West8, Guidi, and Visvim making appearances here and there.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I always say I’m going to get some nice knitwear this time of year, but never really get around to it. Hoping I don’t miss the mark again this season.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I’ve really been into vintage L.L. Bean shirts lately, the Chamois cloth joints in particular. A quick trip to the tailor to straighten out the hem and crop it a bit, and you’ve got yourself an insanely good looking and comfortable shirt. Gonna need as many colors as possible.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

Insulated fly fishing waders. The streams in NY are getting a bit chilly.

Now that the Black Friday rush will be mostly online, there’s no more fear of having to fight someone for the last sale piece IRL. Take your time and think about what you really want, and more importantly what you need to round-out the wardrobe.

I’m Evy and I’m on the Analytics Team at Grailed! I basically help the Grailed team better understand how their work impacts our business. We build cool analytics data models so that we can define our business metrics, and we use these models to identify opportunities and insights for the greater team.

I’d describe my personal style as a combination of timeless cuts with bold or funky patterns and mixed textures. In colder weather, my personal style shows through more. I get to play with more layers, not just in terms of individual pieces but also with colors, textures and patterns.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

Admittedly, I haven’t left the indoors since March 2020 but I’m into the “patchwork quilt” coat and jacket trend. I recently saw a TikTok of a woman who made this bomber jacket out of a bunch of fabric scraps (so zero waste!).

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I’ve got my eye on a few things, even if some of these womenswear designers aren’t necessarily on Grailed. I like A.P.C.’s Merida dress, Khaite’s Shelley sweater, a Jil Sander dress, a Proenza Schouler shirt dress and a tiny pleated bucket bag from Mansur Gavriel.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

Honestly, Khaite’s Larissa jacket.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

Roughly 50 percent of sales on Grailed in 2020 happened within 14 days of the listing getting published—so don’t sit too long on a listing if you really like it. For even faster selling items like sneakers, nearly 40 percent of sneaker sales happened within 4 days of the sneaker getting published.

I’m the Head of Partnerships and I’ve worked at Grailed for 11 months—I drive company growth and boost brand awareness through partnerships with brands, publishers, celebrities, and influencers. I also spearhead our seller management program.

My personal style is fairly laid back, tasteful, and monochromatic, so expect lots of blacks, grays, with the occasional pop of color or an over-the-top piece to keep things exciting. In other words, I strive for a timeless, streamlined aesthetic where each piece can be mixed and matched.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

Not really, though I’m always on the hunt for standout knit sweaters and shearling jackets.

Avoid the temptation of jumping on something just because it’s on sale. Worst case scenario, if it sells out you can just find it later on Grailed.

Hey, I’m Lexi. I work on the Brand Marketing team here at Grailed. My style definitely leans old school. I am a sucker for luxury brands with rich history, craftsmanship and narrative. I love vintage pieces by Ralph Lauren in the ’70s and ’80s, Gucci, Hermès and even Céline pre-Phoebe Philo. Its bags from the ’70s were timeless and totally underrated.

I also appreciate emerging brands who are clearly evoking these principles in more recent work, like Bottega under Daniel Lee and Lemaire. And, of course, I could never deny my interest in ’90s minimalism, as popularized by Prada, Jil Sander and Calvin Klein.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I am generally a huge fan of the resurgence we’ve seen vintage on Grailed and in the fashion industry at large. This has revived a heritage aesthetic that I am so into––neutrals, luxe fabrics, silhouettes made for layering, pieces inspired by the town-and-country lifestyle. I also totally endorse this look for men. I think it’s classic, flattering and makes guys look super polished and discerning. Can’t go wrong with a cream cashmere turtleneck, vintage Levi’s and boots with a little western bent to them.

Not sure if you could call this a “trend” per se, but I am also digging the recent impact of women on menswear. Bode, for example, is one of my favorite menswear brands right now. I love Emily Bode’s ingenious use of color, pattern, texture and garment upcycling.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I’m on the hunt for a great old school Burberry (or, Burberrys, in the vibe of true vintage) trench. I may go for a men’s style, too. I love the ’80s boxiness of it. Total Michael Douglas vibes. I am also helping a few guy friends shop for denim at the moment, so I’ve been looking for a few great pairs of vintage Levi’s.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

I have been going back and forth on what contemporary Bottega piece to invest in. Many of the styles in the recent collections are super timeless and will be valuable for years to come. I love the leather pouch clutch they’ve shown in recent seasons that totally takes me back to Lauren Hutton in American Gigolo.

If you could give Grailed users one piece of holiday shopping advice, what would it be?

Think of shopping as a way to collect versus consume. It’s so easy to fall into a “more is more” mindset when it comes to holiday shopping. Despite this temptation, I find the best gifts (for others or for yourself) are those that have staying power. This often means the gift itself is seasonless, trend agnostic and may be more of an investment, rather than a cheap thrill.

This way of shopping definitely takes more cognitive work and strategic––you have to think critically about your closet, or the closet of your gift recipient, and determine what is truly missing before making a purchase––but it pays off in the end. You look at your closet every day. You might as well like what you see.

I’ve been a product designer here at Grailed for just over 2 years, working on the user experience of our mobile apps, website, and internal tools for our moderation team. My personal style is “neutral blob” — I need to be comfy above all else, so I end up wearing a lot of minimal, oversized pieces in simple colors.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

I temporarily relocated to Sayulita, Mexico until our office reopens. Because of the tropical climate I didn’t really experience any seasonal change this year, so I’m continuing with summer favorites — vintage finds, tie-dye, and Issey Miyake Pleats Please.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I miss my Tabi boots! Looking at some beach-appropriate alternatives like the canvas sneakers or the Nike Aqua Rifts. And more big t-shirts — this is my go-to category on Grailed.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

I’d love to get my own surfboard. My favorite rental board is from a local shop nearby in Tondoroque, and I might go buy one for myself to use here in Sayulita and back home at Rockaway.

Unless you know someone’s taste really well, consumable gifts like cash and food are best.

Hi, I’m Greg and I’ve been at Grailed three-and-a-half years. I run the day-to-day operations of Dry Clean Only and also help with various copywriting tasks across our marketing department (and Grailed as a whole).

My personal style is very “dad style” if I’m honest. I may have certain weird pieces in rotation, but I also firmly believe you have to dress like a normal person—even in quarantine.

I grew up in Upstate New York (real Upstate New York, roughly five hours north of New York City) so my style is shaped by that upbringing. At this point though, my closet is a combination of surplus store Carhartt, vintage concert tees, items from Popeye editorials, L.L. Bean (thanks mom!) and “grown-up streetwear.” Oh, and lots of Stone Island. Those who know me know I’m a sucker for Stone Island.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

What’s interesting is that—due to quarantine—traditional winter clothing has been kind of stagnant, and the lightweight seasonal gear we see perk up in fall is remaining in the forefront well into the winter months. This means “shorts and hoodie season” is basically stretching well-past Halloween. It probably sounds very silly to read, but I’d genuinely recommend investing in a few new hoodies this season—perfect for throwing on just before a Zoom meeting, but sturdy enough to handle a sprint out to the grocery store.

Also, there’s huge value in vintage T-shirts. I’ve been using Grailed (both before and during my time at the company), and I almost exclusively buy vintage concert tees on the platform. I don’t think the vintage concert merch trend—regardless of the musical genre—is going away anytime soon.

I’ve also noticed a huge uptick in workwear—especially vintage Carhartt (emphasis on the “vintage”). Double knee pants are something that I see cropping up a ton, and I think it has to do with the eternal desire to score bang for your buck. Usually sold at a very reasonable price, double knee trousers from Carhartt or Dickies tend to be cheap, roomy and built to last—regardless of where you shop.

Oh, and let’s not forget the rise of South2 West8. Lots of people will point out that they’re “not new” to the brand—but I remember going into Nepenthes New York for years and watching people walk right by the brand. It’s expensive, but genuinely so charming and wonderful.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

I’ve been a fan of the Nepenthes suite of brands since I started living in New York City full-time in the early-2010s. There’s plenty of pieces from Engineered Garments and South2 West8 that I’d love if money was no object.

It might sound a little weird, but I’ve recently been very inspired by my father-in-law’s love of the long sleeve knit polo. There’s a few from Stone Island that I have my eye on.

I’m also nursing a love for Beams flannels since I visited Japan back in 2019.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?

I genuinely just want a wine fridge for the holidays. I am also accepting well-designed merch from “mom-and-pop” natural wine shops.

But seriously though: I would like a pair of Gucci lug-sole loafers. I would also love a pair of Stone Island cargos. If I was going really crazy I’d actually like a pair of Dirk Bikkembergs Bungee Cord boots, but with things as they are, I don’t really know where I would actually wear them (or if they’re really even my style—they just look incredible).

When in doubt, take a look at the vintage section on Grailed with a particular band or event in mind. You’ll find some solid merch at prices that should come in well-below $100. Shop there when you’re at a loss of what to get—and don’t forget to make sure you account for shipping times! Buy early so your gifts can be shipped to your friends and family by the big day!

I’ve worked at Grailed for almost six years, which is pretty crazy to think about. Currently I’m on the Brand Activations team, which is primarily focused on campaigns launched by Grailed or in collaboration with partners. In the past this has included projects like the “Grailed 100” or closet sales, respectively.

In the past two years, I’ve pretty much only worn black head to toe, with most of my wardrobe coming from Uniqlo, Rick Owens and Guidi, and my fragrances from Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Frederic Malle or Le Labo. It’s much easier for me to start the day without having to spend a significant amount of time deciding what to wear and let my fragrance do most of the talking.

Are there any trends you are watching out for this winter and holiday season?

Given the nature of the men’s style community constantly seeking new ways to differentiate and express themselves, I believe we’ve matured past clothing and sneakers as the sole focus and are transitioning toward grooming and fragrance. I’ve found fragrance to be an exciting extension of style because it has the ability to further define your approach without a present visual component, and there’s an unlimited number of ways to interpret it. Said differently, you shouldn’t wear a thousand dollar outfit and smell like body odor or Axe body spray… or both.

What are a few particular favorites on your winter wish list?

Leather boots, a few books and a new chess set.

What’s one Grail you wish you could buy before the season’s over?
