"In Medias Res" is a column in which photographer Chris Fenimore links up with some of fashion's most interesting people to see what they're wearing throughout the week.

Name: Amardeep Singh

Occupation: Design/creative director at Raden

Neighborhood: Ridgewood, Queens

Favorite shop in New York City: Iconic Magazines on Bowery

Favorite restaurant in New York City: Punjabi Deli on 1st and A

How did you get into fashion: It’s New York, baby, you either eat or get eaten. I don’t like fashion though. I mostly just care about sneakers. Shouts out to ISS Forums and sportfreak6901.

How would you describe your personal style: Probably monotonous. The idea of having a uniform has been really appealing to me for a while. I’ve kind of reached the point where I’m always wearing the same handful of pieces over and over and I’m into it, but they aren’t my absolute favorite things yet. Eventually they will be though and that sounds like a pleasant and peaceful time. There are way more meaningful things to spend time and brainpower on than clothing.

Current favorite piece(s) in your closet: Probably these Yohji trousers I bought a year or two ago from Grailed Employee of the Year, Nico. They’re the right amount of baggy for me after tailoring them 3 times. Wearing them right after the crease has been set feels really nice.

Most memorable Grailed come up: Nico gave me the 50% discount on the aforementioned Yohji trousers, what a damn superstar.

Favorite fashion designers: Lots of folks make cool things, but it’s honestly hard for me to spend more that $100 on a piece of clothing in my current state of mind. I wear mostly Uniqlo and Dickies and blanks I got as samples so I can guiltlessly trash and replace them if I need to.

Ultimate grail: I was those thinking about those Raf De Stijl shoes recently, but those are ridiculous. I’d never actually wear those. To be real, my ultimate grail is a patternmaker and tailor on deck to custom-make all three of my outfits head-to-ankle. If I had the paper for wild high-fashion garments, I’d rather just spend that on developing my own stuff than on some other brand’s marketing campaign.
