Leave it to Virgil Abloh to take an understated classic like Nike’s Air Force 1 and turn the volume all the way up. Abloh first tinkered with the Air Force 1 during his “The Ten” collection, as it was an obvious selection for his ten-course sneaker buffet. It was such a success that he tackled it a few more times, including this beaming electric volt colorway. Usually appearing as an accent color on Nike Training apparel and assorted sneakers, the volt colorway covers the entire shoe on a mixed material upper, complete with signature Abloh-inspired branding. All of Abloh’s Nike kicks are among some of the rarest sneakers on the market despite the never-ending hype, and these bright and bold Air Forces are no different.

The high-powered triumvirate of Hiroshi Fujiwara, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker established their successful working partnership in 2002 with the release of the first HTM Air Force 1. This updated 2004 version is premium in every way, from the black croc skin-embossed upper to the limited nature of the release. Only 1,500 pairs of each colorway (this black one and an accompanying white colorway) were dropped and they remain an impossible pickup 15 years later. Fujiwara, the legendary mind behind fragment design, dropped the news about how close he was to creating his own “The Ten” collection at a ComplexCon panel back in 2018. While the world may never get to see how that would’ve turned out, at least we still have these classics.

Jordan Vs don’t find their way onto this list too often, but this Tokyo T23 retro is a different beast. Created to commemorate the opening of the Jordan Tokyo 23 store in 2011, this Jordan V is decked in yellow suede with wolf grey and black accents, complete with Japanese characters on the side. This is one of the rarest Jordan Vs ever concocted and you just don’t come across them often on Grailed.

Some people just don’t listen. This unique black, white and yellow Jordan I aptly nicknamed “Not For Resale” has become one of the most sought after “new” Jordans released in recent years. Released during the great SB Dunk wave of the early 2000s, these Cherry Dunks designed with Stussy dropped in July 2005 as a part of Nike SB’s “Team Manager” series. This particular colorway, designed by Stussy’s Robbie Jeffers, is an homage to Neapolitan ice cream, with its pink upper, brown overlays and white swoosh. There’s even a literal cherry on top thanks to a cherry-branded tongue tag. Stussy and Nike SB getting together is sneakerhead magic and these Cherry Dunks are still some of the rarest SBs around.

Nike has an awesome partnership with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Oregon, where some of the hospital’s patients get to design their unique takes on classic Nikes and Jordans, with proceeds benefiting the hospital. This particular Dunk designed by Joey Bates is an homage to the Green Bay Packers, his favorite NFL team. Clad in Green Bay green and yellow, this sneaker also features designs of some of Joey’s favorite animals, including a chicken, which is featured on the side. Along with an American flag tongue tag and Joey’s name on the heels, there’s a number 52 pattern on the sole, an homage to his favorite athlete, former Packer Clay Matthews.

Ronnie Fieg, owner and founder of Kith, has a long and successful history of crafting his own luxurious takes on Asics products. For ten years now he’s released some of the most coveted and excellent Asics kicks, from Gel Lytes to this GT-II model. Originally released in 2007, these “Warhawk” Air Max 90s are one of the rarest Air Max 90s on the market. They draw inspiration from the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, a fighter plane used prominently by the US Air Force during World War II. From an old Air Max 90 classic to a new one, this is Virgil Abloh’s signature take on the legendary silhouette. While he has released three Air Max 90 colorways over the last three years, including a predominantly black and deconstructed white colorway as part of his “The Ten” collection, it’s this “Desert Ore” version that truly stands out. The rarest and most sought after of the three, this listing is comprised of mixed materials, most noticeably a tan suede upper, with visible sewn seams, annotated tonal “shoelaces” and a bright orange Swoosh. A lot of Abloh’s work with Nike has been bare bones white and black colorways (which, don’t get us wrong, are great), but every time he strays to bolder colors and tones–like this listing and the aforementioned volt Air Force 1–it’s a home run.
