Teddy Santis and his Aimé Leon Dore imprint pushed all the right buttons in 2019.

Since the brand’s inception in 2014, Santis’ aesthetic of elevated streetwear, inspired heavily by his Queens roots and Greek heritage, has gained more and more steam with each passing year. His output has expanded and diversified as well, crafting everything from cozy sweatshirts and branded tees to tailored trousers and luxurious topcoats. He even opened a new NYC flagship back in May, which includes an attached cafe, where you can grab a freddo espresso after snagging something from the latest drop.

The brand’s rise culminated with its second New Balance collaboration back in November. The build up for the “Life in the Balance” campaign’s release was so intense that the NYPD had to [shut down the in-store release](complex.com/sneakers/2019/11/aime-leon-dore-new-balance-990-v2-v5-shut-down) due to concerns for public safety. A big reason for that hype was the inclusion of the smooth New Balance 990v2 in the drop. The sneaker, and the collection as a whole, was an unquestionable hit.
