Releasing just in time for All-Star Weekend 2018 in Los Angeles, this OVO Jordan VIII might be the best of Drake’s Jumpman collaborations. Decked in the signature OVO gold, complete with the trademark owl logos and a red Jumpman on the tongue, this is one of the best Jordan VIIIs released in recent memory. Drake’s Jordan collaborations, while pretty consistent design-wise, always sell out instantly. These sneakers were no different, as they were released alongside a small capsule collection of apparel and accessories. With Drake’s rumored adidas deal long gone and his “checks over stripes” proclamation still fresh in our minds, the sneaker world is anxiously waiting to see what Drake and Jordan Brand cook up next.

Don’t let the Gucci-flavored colorway fool you. While this sneaker’s color palette may invoke the famous luxury brand, its original purpose was to show love to one of SB’s own. Originally intended to be released in 2005 as a part of Nike SB’s “Team Manager” series, this “RESN” Dunk High didn’t officially see the light of day until 2009. Named after Nike SB’s Girl Skateboards team manager Sam Smyth’s pen name, this pair takes those recognizable Gucci colors and dresses it down with a black denim overlay. A red Swoosh, white midsole and dark green base are all tied together with help from the gold “RESN” tag on the tongue.

In an effort to fight world hunger, Global Citizen, the international organization aimed at ending extreme poverty, and M5 Showroom, the multi-branded luxury sportswear showroom, linked up to craft this exclusive Air Force 1. Crafted with a red, white and blue patriotic color palette with laser etchings from around the globe, just 10 (!) pairs of the sneaker released to the public. They were unveiled at ComplexCon back in 2017 before nine of the pairs were auctioned off, with all proceeds going towards Global Citizen’s humanitarian effort. The shoe features a numbered chrome hang tag, with the inscription “For Freedom. For Justice. For All.” inscribed on the insole. This one right here is lucky number seven.

If you’re ever sauntering about in Buenos Aires, you might come across some incredible paintings that were sources of inspiration for this hyper-limited Dunk, the “Fileteado.” Named after the specific style of drawing which contains combinations of flowing lines, floral patterns and climbing plants, these drawings often adorn many objects in Buenos Aires, from advertisements to taxis. The “Fileteado” Dunk is a bit of a white whale in sneaker circles. This hyperstrike only saw 50 pairs hit the market and the release was limited to South America. Sneakers like the “Paris” Dunk and “Tokyo” Dunk may grab more headlines, but this “Fileteado” Dunk—in all its flowery, artistic glory—is as rare as it gets.

Inspired by EA’s 1988 skateboarding video game, Skate or Die, this Dunk serves as a fitting tribute to the old school innovator. Long before Tony Hawk was bringing skateboarding games to the mainstream, Skate or Die proved to be really ahead of its time, featuring various single player and head-to-head skating events. Popular chef David Chang collaborated with Nike SB back in 2017 on a Dunk Hi, pulling all sorts of inspiration from his celebrated Momofuku Noodle Bar in Manhattan. This collaborative partnership was a long time in the making, as Chang has been a Nike fan since the 1980s. The shoe is dressed in a dark denim upper, which matches the aprons worn by the chefs at Momofuku. The restaurant’s peach logo can be found standing out on the side heel. White, green and orange accents break up the dark grey, but the coolest little design pieces are the numbers “163” and “207,” which can be found on the sock liners. The numbers represent the addresses of Chang’s two NYC restaurants–both of which he holds dear–where his restaurant group “established our DNA.”

The Air Jordan XIII is famous due to its supporting role in the classic movie He Got Game, starring Denzel Washington and Ray Allen. When a sneaker transcends the court and into pop culture, it’s hard to imagine it any other way. But this Charlotte Hornets-inspired low top is worth noticing. It features the signature navy and turquoise Hornets colors, with a chrome Jumpman logo on the side heel. It’s a welcome departure from the traditional Jordan colorways, but it’s not a total surprise to see this colorway on an Air Jordan, considering that the owner of the Charlotte Hornets these days is… Michael Jordan.

Sticking with more solid gold classics, this premium take on the Air Jordan IX is from Jordan Brand’s exclusive “Bin23” collection, which dresses up classic Jordan silhouettes in luxurious materials for an elevated appearance. These gold Jordan IXs are a far cry from the black and white OGs Jordan wore in Space Jam, but they prove to be a winner, just like the aforementioned gold “OVO” VIIIs. Decked in a white leather upper with gold nubuck on the overlays, this sneaker looks like a trophy. The white “23” on the heel is too clean, and the trademark red wax seal logo on the side serves as both the signature for the “Bin23” collection and a perfect dash of bold color. They are limited to just 1,331 pairs and even Ray Allen himself was spotted rocking one (yes, just one) during warm ups the night he set the all-time three-point record back in 2011.

One of the most recent releases from Jordan Brand’s acclaimed “Fearless Ones” collection of unique Jordan I Mids, comes this pair, a collaboration with the Paris-based brand Maison Chateau Rouge. What really sets this pair apart from the other “Fearless” Jordans we’ve seen over the last few months, is that this pair draws on colors, patterns and textures from Africa, founders Youssouf and Mamadou Fofana’s biggest inspiration. A lot of handmade African-inspired fashion can be found at their shop in Paris, so it’s only right that their Jordan I collaboration featured that rich heritage. “The idea is to help reinvent African culture by sharing it with the rest of the world,” the pair said in an interview with Jordan Brand. The result was one of the best from an excellent collection of Jordan Is, a sneaker which they say is “a statement, a message, a commitment, a symbol.”

One of the rare SBs without a witty nickname, the “Aqua Chalk” Dunk draws its name from its simple yet impeccable blue and grey color scheme. Despite being released at the height of the Dunk dynasty, these slept on SBs flew under the radar to collectors and sneakerheads, and instead were used for their primary purpose: skating. They were designed by James Keoni Arizumi, the mind behind the “Hawaii” Dunk and feature bold blue leather overlays with smooth grey paneling and a white Swoosh. Most pairs on the secondary market feature requisite wear and tear, like this listing, but that doesn’t change the fact these are a really underrated pair of Dunks in a dope colorway.
