Last week, the newest collaboration between superbrands Nike and Supreme was unveiled. Once again, the two companies will be teaming up to release an Air Force 1 low collaboration, in both white and black colorways. This particular concoction, however, features the tiniest tweaks possible, as there is just a miniscule Supreme logo stamped along the outside heel on each shoe.

The news is sure to make waves for a few reasons. For one, it will certainly draw the ire of those who resent the fact that Supreme just slapped its tiny logo on an Air Force 1 and doubled its retail price in the process. On the flipside, even that little logo will feed the masses who await en masse for anything Nike and Supreme related. The hard truth is the sneaker will sell out in seconds. We have long been entrenched in the era of brands working together, as hype and excitement regarding tag-team releases has long hit a fever pitch within the sneaker industry, but it’s not just the Supremes of the world who are moving the needle.

While Supreme, Virgil Abloh and others are stealing headlines with their name recognition, there are so many others out there, from local sneaker shops to up-and-coming designers, who are putting their unique flair on classic models and experiencing incredible success.

While everyone was waiting for Virgil Abloh’s Off-White Vs to drop at All-Star Weekend, hordes of people were waiting in line for Joe Freshgoods’ New Balance kicks and apparel in Chicago. Damian Lillard and Pusha T linked up for a Dame 6 release and an accompanying video that had everyone reminiscing about the classic Allen Iverson/Jadakiss A5 commercial. While hypebeasts everywhere clamor for the Travis Scott SB Dunks to drop this month, the Strangelove Dunks already sold out in seconds just a few weeks back. It’s an extremely lucrative time to work together and pull inspiration from a variety of channels. We kick off this week’s list with a few more collaborations, this time from local sneaker boutiques all around the country.

Never forget: No online retailer has the same breadth and depth of selection as Grailed. From college-inspired Dunks to “Shark Attack” Pumas (and everything in between)–in no particular order, these are our picks for the Rarest Sneakers on Grailed This Week.
