The 10 Rarest Sneakers On Grailed: Week of March 8, 2020

Last Saturday, Jordan Brand released a new Jordan III in a University of North Carolina-inspired blue and white colorway. Fans have been clamoring for a UNC look on the III since team-issued PEs first surfaced in 2018. This release might be the closest any of us get to playing basketball at Jordan’s alma mater.
Jordan isn’t the only brand going back to school. Allen Iverson and Reebok recently announced plans for an “Origins Pack,” featuring two classic Iverson silhouettes inspired by both Iverson’s high school and college days. The “Origins Pack” will feature an Answer 5 in a Bethel High School green and black colorway, while a Reebok Question will be decked in Georgetown’s famous navy and grey.
Of course, the retro market is built on nostalgia, so it makes perfect sense for a brand to return to its roots. Carolina colorways have been a mainstay in the Jordan line since 1985 and are still immensely popular, as evidenced by the success of both the “Obsidian/University Blue” Jordan I High and the Carolina-clad Jordan I Low SB collaboration with Eric Koston, both of which released last August. It remains to be seen if Iverson’s latest attempt to reach back into the past will pay dividends, but we know it’s a good place to start. After all, the old adage “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” applies as much in the business of sneakers as it does in life. We kick off this week’s list with a few more sneakers from designers and brands who aren’t afraid to go back to what works for them.
Never forget: No online retailer has the same breadth and depth of selection as Grailed. From superhero Bapestas to Dunks inspired by a Rocky villain (and everything in between)–in no particular order, these are our picks for the Rarest Sneakers on Grailed This Week.
