Nike SB has always done a great job spotlighting smaller skate shops and brands around the globe through its collaborations over the years. After all, they are the true lifeblood of the brand. You can trace that relationship all the way back to SB’s breakout year in 2002 and its “Chocolate” Dunk collaboration with Chocolate Skateboards. The all-black upper sits atop a gum sole and features yellow accents on the Nike logos, as well as a cross logo embroidered on the heel. The graphic was designed by Margaret Kilgallen and is an homage to the late skateboarder Keenan Milton who passed away in June 2001. Rumor has it less than 300 pairs of this sneaker exist, making it a true grail for any SB fan.

30 years after its debut in 1986, Jordan Brand brought back the “Metallic” Jordan I in a full run of original colorways, including the Metallic Navy featured in this listing. It would be the first time the entire run of metallic colorways received a proper retro release, as only the Metallic Red colorway retroed in 2009. The all-white upper features metallic navy accents on the collar, tongue, Swoosh and outsole. Metallic Jordans have always taken a backseat to the more mainstream Jordan I colorways, but they are an OG and should be respected as such.

For Fear of God’s second series of releases with Vans Vault, Jerry Lorenzo tackled the Era 95 DX model and splashed an all-over Fear of God print graphic throughout the panels. It is offset by a marshmallow canvas upper and laces with black Fear of God branding. The low top also sports a padded collar and sits atop a white midsole. It is slightly more balanced than the all-over print Era 95 from the pair’s original 2016 collaboration, however both remain powerhouses on the resale market and highly sought after pieces of Fear of God footwear.

The Black/White Jordan I originally debuted in 1985 as one of the original colorways. Like the Blue/White OG model, it gets lost in the shuffle sometimes behind all the legendary Bulls-centric colorways and the popular “Royal.” Jordan Brand brought the Black/White pair out for the first time in retro form as a part of 2008’s Countdown Pack, a somewhat surprising choice for such a dramatic rollout of the entire Jordan line. The shoe would soon find new life again in 2014 for its first standalone retro release. Absolutely no frills whatsoever, the black and white upper is crisp and clean and this remains one of the more underrated Jordan Is in the entire line.

Back in 2004, Nike SB dropped a Dunk High in a “Sea Crystal” colorway, consisting of an icey blue-green upper and black accents. Twelve years later, the brand would drop a low-top version of the classic colorway to the specifications of skateboarder Ishod Wair. The Dunk Low features a slimmer tongue than a traditional SB and sports a Zoom Air unit in the heel. The ice green suede overlays contrast perfectly to the black accents along the Swoosh, laces and outsole, making this one of the crispier SBs of the last few years.

Before receiving a Quickstrike release in the United States in 2008, the “Mr. Todd Bratrud” SB Dunks first dropped in Japan. Inspired by artist Todd Bratrud, these Dunk Highs enlist a brown suede upper with blue and pink accents throughout. It’s not the only SB Dunk Todd Bratrud has had a hand in designing, as he’s lent his artistic expertise to a few Dunks over the years, including the infamous “Skunk” Dunk, the “White Widow” and 2011’s “The Cigar.” Bratrud has also designed apparel and decks for Nike SB, decks for Chocolate Skateboards, and many other skate companies, solidifying him one of the premiere names in skate-inspired art.

Chicago-based Saint Alfred teamed up with New Balance in 2013 to drop this collaborative 1500 silhouette in a beautiful all-red suede. Opulent from ankle to sole, the “Red Suede” features a mesh base, hairy suede overlays and a leather collar. It all flows seamlessly in the lush red colorway, which is topped off with a white midsole and gum outsole. The decadent Saint Alfred script lettering can be found on the insole, while a red and gold hangtag can be found dangling from the eyelets.

J.Crew has done a solid job over the years of curating a small selection of complementary footwear from brands like Vans, Nike and New Balance in its stores, to style with its apparel–it is a big reason why the Nike Killshot’s popularity has skyrocketed in recent years. However, its collaborations with New Balance over the years have given J.Crew a legitimate foothold in the sneaker space, thanks in large part to sneakers like this “Pebble Blue” colorway from 2013. This “Made in the USA” pair features a brown and beige suede upper with pebble blue accents along the midsole, heel and in the “N” logo along the side. The sneaker also features ABZORB cushioning in the midsole.

END., the UK-based retailer, linked up with New Balance to drop this luxurious 997 silhouette in December of 2019, aptly nicknamed “Persian Rug.” Taking its design cues from beautiful handmade Persian rugs, these 997s sport rich hues of red and burgundy and are accented by touches of tan mesh, with dashes of bright blue sprinkled in. The coolest little design touch is the Persian rug pattern printed on the custom sockliner, adding a little flair to a really balanced colorway.

Any kid who grew up on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory can clearly see the inspiration behind this “Oompa Loompa” SB Dunk from 2005. Named after the workers in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, the “Oompa Loompa” recreates that unmistakable color palette with a brown and white leather upper (after their brown and white outfits), followed by orange accents in the toe box and Nike logos to represent their skin, as well as green accents along the sockliner and outsole to represent their hair. Nike SB is never shy about thinking outside the box for inspiration, and an Oompa Loompa themed sneaker just makes too much sense for them.
