One of the lone bright spots of the last month has been the long-awaited debut of ESPN’s The Last Dance documentary, chronicling the 1997-1998 NBA Champion Chicago Bulls. The film, which was originally scheduled to debut in June, was pushed up due to fervent excitement from a captive audience of sports fans currently stuck at home clamoring for content.
Since the docu-series’ debut, basketball fans have been regaled with stories from those who knew best about everything from Michael Jordan’s career, to Scottie Pippen’s contract and Dennis Rodman’s eccentricities. While the documentary spotlights that final 1997-1998 season and the team’s quest for a sixth championship, it also bounces back throughout Jordan’s upbringing, college experience and early years in the NBA. It’s a must watch.
During Jordan and the Bulls’ second three-peat (1996-1998), Jordan primarily donned a popular trio of Air Jordans throughout that historic run: the XI, XII and XIII. In honor of the documentary and the moments Jordan created in those classic sneakers, we kick off this week’s list with assorted varieties–both new and old–of those three models. Some you may recognize, some you may not, but all three models are a product of that incredible time in NBA history.
Never forget: No online retailer has the same breadth and depth of selection as Grailed. From Public School Jordans to “Milli Vanilli” Dunks (and everything in between)–in no particular order, these are our picks for the Rarest Sneakers on Grailed This Week.
