2019 was the year Travis Scott elevated himself from popular Nike ambassador to legitimate power player in the sneaker industry, mostly due to his massively successful “Mocha” Jordan I collaboration, one of the [best sneaker releases](https://www.grailed.com/drycleanonly/best-sneakers-2019 of the year. Being trusted to design your own Jordan I is no small feat, and Scott made the most of it by making the product uniquely his own. The most noticeable change is the oversized backwards Swoosh along the sides. You can also find his “Cactus Jack” design on the tongue tag, as well as his smiley face logo embossed on the smooth brown suede by the heel. It was so successful that Scott flipped the colorway for a low-top version, which released in July 2019.

While Amsterdam-based Patta is widely known for its excellent Air Max collaborations over the years, the brand branched out for a Jordan collaboration back in 2019. The silhouette of choice was the Jordan VII, one of the more underappreciated Jordans for this sort of thing. For its “Icicle” colorway, the light grey nubuck upper is accented by black overlays and the faintest pops of red and brown on the sole and heel. Patta opted for more visible branding than they have in the past, with the Patta script logo along the midsole and a “Team Patta” pull tab. It’s appropriate that one of the most slept on Jordans is the shoe from this slept on collaboration between two sneaker heavyweights.

If you want to incorporate some green into your wardrobe but want something a bit more muted than the “Pine Green” Jordan I, this is your best bet. The “Clay Green” I is a part of Nike’s “Best Hand in the Game” collection, which highlights accolades from MJ’s career. Inside the shoe, you’ll find a graphic of a full house hand of cards, depicting some of Jordan’s greatest on-court achievements. Colorblocked in a traditional “Black Toe” style, the green suede is an excellent upgrade, contrasting the black and white leather nicely. One of the cleaner Jordan I releases in recent years and a standout from the “Best Hand in the Game” collection.

Plain and simple, the Foamposite One “Galaxy” is one of the most important shoes of the last decade. Originally released in 2012, the “Galaxy” was released as a part of Nike’s “All-Star” collection and [caused chaos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XMMQhJGUp0 all over the country. It dropped at a pivotal time in [Foamposite history](grailed.com/drycleanonly/foamposite-shoes), as Nike was in the midst of a big retro push, and the “Galaxy” hit the market at just the right time. Covered in a starry galaxy graphic along the molded Foamposite upper, this shoe was bold and beautiful. Someone famously posted a Craigslist ad offering to trade their car for a pair, that’s how real the “Galaxy” hype was back in 2012.

Dropping back in 2007, this “Flamingo” Air Max 1 strikes the perfect balance of flash and simplicity. Dressed in a simple grey and white upper, sporadic hot pink accents permeate the outsole, heel and tongue. It’s finished off with a golden Swoosh. These aren’t like a lot of Air Max 1s from that era and remain a tough get 13 years after their original release.

Released exclusively at Philadelphia-based boutique Lapstone & Hammer in 2018, these Air Max 95s are a product of creative agency Coral Studios. Reportedly, only 50 pairs were created, which were raffled off, with all proceeds going towards The Great Barrier Reef Foundation, as well as One Day at a Time, an organization which helps the homeless in Philadelphia. The color palette is inspired by The Great Barrier Reef, as evidenced by the beautiful blue hues along the Air Max 95’s unmistakable gradient upper. It sits atop a grey midsole and features Coral Studios branding on the tongue.

Ronnie Fieg, the king of Asics collaborations, dropped this NYC-inspired “Knicks” colorway of the Gel Lyte III back in 2013. Clad in the unmistakable orange and blue of the New York Knickerbockers (and Mets), this shoe just screams NYC, much in the same way the “Danny Supa” SB Dunks did back in the day. Despite the NYC roots, the sneakers originally dropped at a pop up in Miami. The royal blue suede upper gives way to an orange nubuck mudguard and sits atop a white midsole, completing one of Fieg’s best Asics collabs.

For the 25th Anniversary of the popular Gel Lyte III model, Asics linked up with New Jersey-based boutique Packer Shoes for this “Dirty Buck” iteration. The taupe suede upper features an embossed Packer Shoes script branding on the side, while tan accents abound on the sockliner, tongue and above the midsole. The most striking addition is the salmon-colored midsole, adding some flavor to a clean collaboration.

The “C-Note” nickname pays homage to the sneaker’s inspiration: the $100 bill. While you may have been “spending hundreds since they had small faces,” these are referring to the updated multi-colored versions that have been in circulation since 2013, which is when this sneaker originally released. The off-white upper is accented by olive suede along the heel panel, with blue splashes on the midsole. Reflective silver can be found throughout the mesh within the upper. This collaboration between New Balance’s 998 silhouette and Massachusetts-based Concepts was all about the Benjamins, for sure.

“No Emotions Are Emotions” is the perfect name for a Kawhi Leonard–noted “Fun Guy”–signature basketball sneaker. This collaboration between Chicago creative Joe Freshgoods and New Balance dropped during All-Star Weekend earlier this February and was an instant smash. The sneaker was released alongside a capsule collection of apparel and an exciting New Balance 992 collaboration. The OMN1s feature cartoon smiley face graphics throughout the upper with neutral facial expressions (maybe more pensive?). The pink and black colorway also features the “No Emotions Are Emotions” tagline on the strap. This collaboration was the culmination of a huge All-Star Weekend for Joe Freshgoods in his hometown of Chicago.
