Nike’s ongoing collaborative effort with Portland’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital has produced some of the most unique and colorful takes on classic Nike and Jordan silhouettes, and this Jordan VIII from 2014 is no different. Designed by Caden Lampert, it feels like these sneakers could’ve played a role in Space Jam. Featuring a speckled blue upper, the Doernbecher VIII features a lot of orange and yellow accents throughout. On the cross strap where you would typically find Jordan’s number 23, it has been replaced by Caden’s (an avid basketball fan) number 14 jersey number. A flaming basketball can be found on the sole, while inspirational phrases like “Hang Loose,” “Rock On” and “Brave” can be found throughout the shoe in a bubbly, cartoon font. Another refreshing piece to come from the Doernbecher partnership.

In the Fall of 2017, Ronnie Fieg linked up with basketball legend Scottie Pippen to rework his Nike Air Pippen 1 sneaker. Fieg ended up releasing two colorways to the public–an animal print-clad “Chimera” colorway as well as a solid black version–but there were some other colorways made specifically for those close to Fieg and his Kith imprint, like the pair found in this listing. Here, the Air Pippen 1 gets the Air Max 95 treatment, with the classic “Neon” Air Max 95 colorway and its gradient upper dominating this Air Pippen silhouette. Featuring a multi-shaded grey upper and a neon yellow Air unit, this was a perfect way to combine two ’90s favorites.

Penny Hardaway was one of Nike’s biggest guns in the mid-to-late-’90s. Always armed with great sneakers and a fantastic marketing strategy, Hardaway became a star on and off the court. His sneaker legacy really shot into the stratosphere when he debuted the Air Foamposite One. Nike paid homage to that shoe by creating this “Shooting Star” Pack in 2014, honoring Hardaway’s legacy as a member of the Orlando Magic. The two-pack features a one-of-a-kind white Foamposite One with starry accents along the lining, as well as a Lil Penny Posite, which features a jeweled blue shell by the heel and the Lil Penny logo on the tongue. This was the only way you could’ve gotten your hands on the Shooting Star Foamposite, one of its best colorways.

Enter the “Derrty” Air Max CB 94, courtesy of rapper Nelly. For those that didn’t know Nelly too well before his “Verzuz” debut on Instagram Live last week, he was huge in the early-’00s. He was coming off two major albums that sold millions of copies around the world (2000’s Country Grammar and 2002’s Nellyville) and he did his best to make sure everyone copped two pairs of Air Force 1s when he dropped that infamous song in 2002. He was a hot commodity and Nike did a lowkey collaboration with him on this popular Air Max CB 94 shoe, made famous by Charles Barkley. Sporting a red, white and blue color palette and the number one embroidered by the heel (another Nelly hit song), these epitomize the early-2000s hip-hop culture and style, and were limited to just 1,000 pairs.

One of the most popular and important Nike SBs ever released, the “Jedi” SB Dunk draws inspiration from Yoda, the old green Jedi master himself from Star Wars. His unmistakable green skin can be found throughout the shoe’s overlays and his brown robe is represented in the Swoosh and the midsole. It wouldn’t be a Star Wars-inspired sneaker if there wasn’t some hint of a lightsaber, and it can be found on the neon green laces and stitching throughout. Intrigued, you are.

This contrasting SB Dunk nicknamed “Poison” features equal parts subtle base and flashy accents. While the upper is primarily composed of black suede and a muted, off-white leather, the neon green Swoosh and hot pink patent leather around the collar really liven things up. While the “Poison” Dunks may have flown under the radar originally and don’t carry the cache of a “Jedi” Dunk, it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a clean colorway of a beloved sneaker.

What a who’s who of collaborations this turned out to be. This is the rare four-way (!) collaboration between legendary Paris boutique Colette, LA-based Undefeated, Michael Dupouy of La MJC and New Balance. Despite the Parisian influence, this sneaker screams “LA” thanks to its undeniable UCLA color scheme. Decked in a Bruins blue and yellow suede upper, you can find a speckled white midsole as well as a leopard sockliner and collar for a really different pop, and it is topped off with a gum sole. A great collaboration from some of the best minds in the industry.

Outside of Philadelphia, Allen Iverson might be most beloved in China. He even shouted out his Chinese fans during his memorable Hall of Fame speech. So it’s no surprise that Chinese retailer Unik collaborated with Reebok on a classic Iverson model, the Answer DMX 1, to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of its flagship store in Shanghai. While Iverson’s Reebok Question has gotten a lot of notoriety over the years (and rightfully so), the Answer 1 DMX is a great shoe as well. Decked in a grey suede and nubuck upper, the shoe features glowing green accents on the sole and the I3 logo, somewhat similar to the “KAWS” Jordan IVs which dropped the previous year. A “15” tag hangs from the side, symbolizing the store’s anniversary. This is a rare collaboration that is tough to find stateside.

This sneaker was made with the DMV sneakerheads in mind. Released exclusively at Shoe City (a sneaker retailer based in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia tri-state area) in Maryland last November, this 990v5 features all the primary colors (red, blue and yellow) throughout the shoe. The sneaker was created in conjunction with lifestyle brand EAT (short for "Elevate All the Time"), which has been a streetwear standby in the DMV area The upper features pigskin suede and mesh and molded synthetic stripes. The famous “N” on the side is a two-tone patch, and you can find custom branding on the tongue and heel counter. Yellow dominates the upper, with just the right amounts of red and blue, which is backed up by grey mesh.
