Combining elements of arguably the two most popular Jordan I colorways of all time, this “Homage to Home” iteration from 2018 splits the sneaker right in half, highlighting the best of both the “Bred” and “Chicago” OG Jordan I colorways. Repping Chicago all the way (and somewhat resembling the old “Scarface” movie posters with the inverted red, black and white color scheme), an early version of this sneaker released exclusively in Chicago and was numbered to 2,300 pairs. This is unfortunately not one of those and is a product of the general release which occurred a month later, but are unique nonetheless.

With the exception of the unprecedented “French Blue” Jordan XVI collaboration from Marcus Jordan’s “Trophy Room” boutique, the XVI hasn’t received a lot of love over the years. Originally released in 2001, the XVI is important because it represents a shift in the Jordan line’s direction. It was the first Jordan designed by Wilson Smith III, as Tinker Hatfield stepped away from the line following the release of the XV. The pair in this listing is from 2008’s polarizing Countdown Pack, which was released alongside a pair of “Hare” Jordan VIIs.

Nike made headlines recently as it cancelled the much-anticipated “Puerto Rico” Air Force 1 release. The latest version of the Puerto Rico inspired colorway was put on hold because the flag was printed in the wrong direction on the tongue tag. Over the last two decades, there have been multiple iterations of the Puerto Rico Air Force 1, including this 2006 version with the flag graphic printed along the upper and heel. Not a bad consolation for those hoping to snag this year’s pair.

Not to be confused with the popular ’80s flick Fast Times at Ridgemont High this SB Dunk from 2015 is a collaboration with Australia-based Fast Times Skateboard Shop. The design pulls style elements from its surrounding community, as evidenced by the leather overlays, a denim upper and a gum outsole. Nike SB has always been great at highlighting skate brands and retailers from all over the world, and this gem from Down Under is no different.

This “Cali” Dunk from 2004 is unequivocally one of the most popular Nike SBs of all time. The “Cali” pays homage to the great state of California, in particular its state flag, which shines throughout the shoe’s design. The white leather upper is accented by brown suede paneling as well as a green midsole and a lone red star. Take a good look at the California state flag and you’ll see each element represented, even the brown bear among the suede paneling. Nike SB tried to recapture the magic of the “Cali” Dunk 10 years later, when a high-top version was released. While it mimics all the design elements from the original, the low-top version is more popular and far more elusive.

You can’t talk about Nike Dunks without mentioning the iconic “Be True to Your School” campaign, which highlighted so many big time collegiate basketball programs who wore Dunks. St. John’s was one of them, going all the way back to the Dunk's inception in 1985, during the glory days of Big East basketball. This 2005 low top version is an homage to those originals, featuring the same iconic Red Storm colorway. it just so happens that this pair is seeing another retro release today (of all days), so if you miss out, here’s a suitable replacement.

Last year, Concepts and New Balance got together one more time for this “Esruc” 997S collaboration. The pig suede upper is decked in a lush pink color, with rose and yellow accents along the midsole, as well as on the “N” logo. While many of Concepts’ New Balance collaborations are more nautical-themed, this pair has a really cool story behind it. Its inspiration is the Boston Red Sox’s 86-year title drought, which was the result of an ill-fated trade of Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees (aka “The Curse of the Bambino”). The “Esruc” name is simply “Curse” spelled backwards.

This wasn’t the first or last time these brands all got together to collaborate on a 580 model, but it was arguably the most important collaboration during their decade-long collaborative relationship. USA-based stalwarts Stussy and Undefeated collaborated with Japanese brand Real Mad Hectic for a multicolored (and patent leather accentuated) New Balance collaboration. A hit in Japan first before it made any noise in the States, the green upper sits atop a speckled midsole, along with purple and blue touches throughout.

The Reebok Pump, which soared to new heights in the early-90s thanks to the likes of Dee Brown, received this Easter-inspired colorway back in 2007. This “Easter Egg” version features colorful splatters of teals, yellows and purples, with all sorts of pastel accents along the white upper. While the Reebok Pump may not have the cache it once did–on or off the court–it remains an important part of basketball sneaker history. And while these may not look anything like the pair Dee Brown pumped up to win the 1991 Slam Dunk Contest, they remain a special pair nonetheless.

Streetwear impresario Ronnie Fieg dropped two pairs of Gel Lyte Vs in 2014–a “Rose Gold” look as well as this clean “Sage” version. Already the owner of quite a few excellent Asics collaborations under his belt, both the Rose Gold and Sage Gel Lyte V colorways carried on that proud tradition. The Sage pair, which is featured in this listing, highlights all different and distinct green hues. It features a pigskin leather upper with Seafoam Green overlays, with aqua stripes and heel tabs. All of which are offset by a white midsole and a dusty rose outsole. Fieg spent years tackling the Gel Lyte III, but this Gel Lyte V was just as good.
