Speaking of classics...If someone asked you, “I’m starting a sneaker collection from scratch, which shoe should I start with?” Odds are the Black/Red Jordan Is—or “Breds” as they’re commonly called--would certainly be on the short list of possible answers. This particular listing, from the first 1994 retro run, would be an excellent selection. Despite having some dirt marks and signs of wear, this 25 year old beauty looks perfectly broken in. While OGs from 1985 make for awesome collector’s items, retros from 1994 carry a similar price tag and scarcity but come in better shape overall. Breds from 1994 rarely pop up on Grailed in this type of condition, so start your collection the right way.

Jordan Brand’s embrace of streetball culture has never been more evident than its continued support and sponsorship of the annual Quai 54 tournament in Paris. This Jordan V, designed for the 2011 event, is the most popular model the tournament has ever received, with its bright green highlights, speckled silver accents and the Quai 54 logo embroidered by the heel. Not quite as limited as the 2011 “Friends & Family” black pair (limited to 54!), these are still a tough find and an exceptional take on the Jordan V.

Kanye West really went three for three with his Air Yeezy II colorways during his time at Nike. The “Red Octobers” are pieces of sneaker lore at this point, but his original “Solar Red” and “Pure Platinum” colorways are flawless. Decked in wolf grey with an assortment of textures, fabrics and accents that helped make the Air Yeezy II so popular, this Pure Platinum listing is quite a find. West’s Nike models remain incredibly sought after and a listing of this colorway in this condition is worth cracking open your wallet.

VLONE and NikeLab got together back in 2016 to release their unique take on the Air Force 1 for a limited release at ComplexCon. A$AP Bari, VLONE’s founder, designed this collab, which features premium black leather with an orange swoosh and stitching throughout, including “Every Living Creative Dies Alone” embroidered across the heels. This sneaker re-released as part of a pop up in Harlem back in 2017—an area who helped cement the Air Force 1’s unofficial nickname: “Uptowns.” While the sneaker was exclusive at the time, A$AP Bari’s role at the center of a sexual assault scandal in July 2017 prompted Nike to distance themselves from the A$AP Mob member—leaving the potential for more VLONE x Nike product (and future collaborations) in limbo. All of these circumstances, combined with the already limited nature of its release, cements this as a particularly rare (and frankly, controversial) sneaker.

In 2014, Supreme took its second crack at the Air Force 1 silhouette, this time opting for the high-top model for its annual collaboration with Nike. Originally released in white, red and black colorways, this listing for the white highs features Supreme and the number 94 branding on the heel, a black swoosh, and “World Famous” branding on the ankle straps. One of the best Supreme and Nike collaborations of the last five years, this is also one of the rarest Air Force 1 Highs on the market, as there are only a handful on Grailed in the white colorway at the moment.

On the heels of the classic “Red Lobster” collaboration from 2008, sneaker boutique Concepts released numerous lobster-inspired colorways over the ensuing decade, culminating with this green iteration in 2018. Covered in durabuck and a suede upper, with a green and white picnic blanket gingham inner sole, these were another smash in the long line of crustacean-themed drops for Concepts. There aren’t many of these available on Grailed, especially with the accompanying special box and accessories.

Justin Saunders, the designer and good taste connoisseur behind the JJJJound brand, designed this money green take on the Vans Old Skool back in 2017. Everything he creates is a master class in minimalist excellence and this green pair of Old Skools might be his most sought after piece of work. With dark green suede and cork inner soles, this pair was released exclusively in Montreal at an undisclosed location, with only about 100 pairs releasing in this colorway. There aren’t many of these available on Grailed, so act fast.

Covered in duck camo print, this Atmos Air Max 90 collaboration from 2013 is a rarity on Grailed. Highlighted by a suede upper and black snakeskin swoosh offsetting the OG infrared color on the heel tab, eyelets and air unit, this bold collab is one of the most elusive Air Max 90s on the market. While it may not garner the hype as some of their other collaborations, this Air Max 90 listing saw a very limited drop here in the States, and this pair is in excellent condition.

In 2017, Virgil Abloh set out for total sneaker domination when he took on ten of Nike’s most iconic kicks for his “The Ten” collection. While his Jordan I garnered a lot of the limelight (and rightfully so), his unique deconstructed version of the white Air Force 1 sold out instantly as well. Completely stripped down and accompanied by his famous Off-White branding and zip tie, it was another win in a long line of Air Force 1 collaborations for Nike. While Virgil has gone on to release black, Carolina blue and volt versions of his take on the Air Force 1, this original listing from “The Ten” collection—part of the “Ghosting” section—remains a tough find for sneakerheads and Abloh disciples alike. He turned a lot of classics inside out and his career hasn’t been the same since.

Every year since 2004, Nike has collaborated with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland to release special sneakers designed by children who are patients of the hospital. This Superman-inspired take on the Jordan IV was designed by Isaiah Scott in 2011. Scott’s Jordan IV featured a black nubuck upper with electrifying Kryptonite green accents. Hidden inside the black nubuck is an arrow pattern meant to symbolize life’s ups and downs. The icing on the cake is the Superman logo on the tongue as well as Scott’s silhouette on the heel, replacing Mars Blackmon. An awesome shoe designed for a great cause, these superhero IVs are one of the most rare Doernbecher iterations and don’t pop up often on Grailed.
