The 10 Rarest Sneakers On Grailed: Week of September 22, 2019

In an era where the designer is the new elite celebrity and kids gravitate more towards Kanye West and Virgil Abloh than hoops All-Stars like Steph Curry or James Harden when it comes to sneakers, it’s no surprise to see so many newer releases begin to populate this list. We don’t know if it’s because our Instagram-obsessed era has more information at our disposal or is just more in tune with the minutiae of fashion, but right now there is no better time to be a rockstar sneaker designer and collaborator.
Many of this week’s selections were released from 2017 on, a gold rush of rare sneaker collabs from designers and brands with name recognition, most notably from that of Virgil Abloh, who has two entries on this week’s list. Growing up in Chicago, Abloh was obsessed with Jordans and Nikes, even going so far as to send Nike drawings of his own sneaker designs when he was a kid. With the success of his “The Ten” collaboration in 2017 and every subsequent release thereafter, he just may be one of Nike’s biggest assets at the moment. Air Force 1s and the latest Air Maxes may move units, but no one inspires a sneaker frenzy these days quite like Abloh and his designer colleagues.
Never forget: No online retailer has the same breadth and depth of selection as Grailed. From elephant print Air Maxes to leopard print Pippens (and everything in between), in no particular order, these are our picks for the Rarest Sneakers on Grailed This Week.
