Supreme Officially Announces Jordan XIV Collaboration

Perhaps the most hyped collaboration of the season, Supreme and Jordan Brand have teamed up again for a custom version of the iconic Air Jordan XIV.
Debuting in 1998, the Air Jordan XIV represents the end of an era as it was the last shoe Michael Jordan played in on the Chicago Bulls. He famously wore the black/red colorway in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. With just five seconds left in the game, he made a mid-range jumper after shaking the Utah Jazz’s Byron Scott, his last shot as a Bull and the final move to win his sixth championship.
The sneaker was designed by Tinker Hatfield and inspired by Jordan’s beloved Ferrari 550 Maranello; this inspiration is evident in the shield logo on the heel, midsole design, rubber heel and streamlined silhouette. The shoe didn’t just take cues from the vehicle aesthetically, it’s packed a ton under the hood. In what was a technically advanced combination at the time, the Air Jordan XIV featured Zoom Air units at the forefoot and heel, as well as a Phylon foam midsole and a herringbone pattern outsole, creating an ideal cushioned but stable feel on the court.
This season Supreme has decided to put their spin on the classic model, its first collaborative retro Jordan since 2015’s Air Jordan V collaboration. Supreme’s version of the sneaker will feature a leather and nubuck upper with metal studs, painted midsole panels, a woven Supreme logo on the mesh tongue, dual branded heel panels and shields. Perhaps a nod to Jordan’s two NBA teams, the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, the sneaker will be available in Bulls-appropriate white/black/red and Wizards-appropriate black/blue colorways.
The Supreme x Air Jordan XIV drops this Thursday, June 13, at Supreme’s US, European and online stores. They will release on June 15 in Japan. Be sure to check Grailed shortly after 11 am as the sneaker makes its way to the Hype marketplace.
