While Supreme is hardly considered to be a luxury brand, the streetwear giant has a habit of kicking things up a notch in terms of materials, especially when it comes to footwear collaborations. A perfect example of this came just a few weeks ago with its Clarks Wallabee collaboration, when Supreme swapped out the shoes usual materials with a Gore-Tex upper and Vibram sole. This week, Supreme has once again taken a classic model and upgraded the materials for its collaboration with Nike on an Air Max 95 Lux.
While the typical Nike Air Max 95 features a combination of various materials—including synthetic leather—this upscale version was made in Italy with Italian leather exclusively for Supreme. The Air Max 95 also usually features vertical and horizontal loops and panels meant to represent the human spine and muscles, but on this version, Supreme stops the vertical loops short to perforate its logo in the panel just below the laces. Available in red, blue and black, each colorway sits atop an all black midsole and black Air units. With its leather lining, tongue, collar and footbed, along with gold-foil branding on the insole, debossed logos on the tongue and heel, and custom engraved metal hangtag in the shape of Italy, this may be the most luxurious Supreme and Nike sneaker collab of all time. As expected, there is a premium to pay for that distinction. Normally, an Air Max 95 in 2019 costs between $160 and $180, but this particular Lux version will retail for $500 USD.
The Supreme x Nike Air Max 95 Lux will be available this Thursday, November 7, at Supreme’s US, European and online stores. It will be released on November 9 in Japan. Be sure to check Grailed shortly after 11 AM as items make their way to the Hype marketplace.
