Following Supreme’s latest promotional clip, featuring DJ/Radio Personality Funkmaster Flex in a box logo hoodie praising “the originators” and lambasting “the fakes,” we all knew Supreme was not playing with its upcoming collection. Today, with the release of its Spring/Summer 2019 lookbook, it proved the bomb drops were wholly justified.
Covering the usual bases, Supreme presents a wide range of bottoms, tops, outerwear and key accessories with plenty to fawn over for its increasingly large swath of devotees. Not stingy with the Gore-Tex, a Hooded Harrington Jacket, Poncho, Court Jacket, bucket hat and pants are all present in the versatile material. Continuing its work with famed motorcycle jacket manufacturer Vanson, Supreme presents a series of leather jackets featuring a flaming skull clearly inspired by the Ghost Rider comics. As far as artist collaborations are concerned, abstract painter Josh Smith’s work is featured on a jacket and shirt, while Salvador Dali’s melting clock lifted from his Persistence Of Memory graces a camp collar shirt. These pieces, as well as the Wolf Fleece Jacket, Classic Ad hoodie and patchwork quilted shacket are sure to attract attention over the coming weeks.
Of course, with every Supreme season the highlights are no doubt the collaborations. While Italian cycling company Castelli was confirmed with the initial collection preview, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Playboy and the Oakland Raiders are all receiving limited capsules—and, as with every season, numerous others will be announced in the coming weeks.
The first drop from Supreme Spring/Summer 2019 will release February 21 at Supreme’s US and European flagship stores, February 23 in Japan and February 25 online. Be sure to check Grailed shortly after 11 am as items make their way to the Hype marketplace.
