The shape and details of the garment have been deliberately designed in a retro style in order to create contrast with the modernity of the reflective materials. The hood is lined in khaki colors wool with parallel stripes, a detail reminiscent of military blankets. The external antiqued reflective fabric—composed of a cotton Batavia with a waxed-like coating made up of thousands of glass microspheres—has a strong capacity to reflect even the weakest light sources and is enhanced by a color patina that is particularly evident in the folds of the garment. The result of this patina provides the piece with a three dimensional appearance. The interior features a detachable lining in microfiber quilted to a thin polyester padding. The lining is attached to the outer garment using a system of rope-like ties, adapted from the sailing world. The traditional Stone Island badge features white embroidery—a detail reserved for garments that are made using advanced research into its fabrics and processes.

The Stealth Coat is the signature piece of each Shadow Project collection. With an exterior in Shadow Project’s traditional, unassuming black color palette, the hooded Gore-Tex® Paclite® trench coat outer opens up to reveal several ergonomic and utility pockets on the interior layer. Thanks to the innovative design, the outer shell is crafted to be as lightweight and packable as possible. The result is a shell that is extremely breathable, while still wind and water-resistant.

Built from Japanese featherweight nylon canvas, the jacket weighs just 30 grams per square meter. This lightweight quality even applies to the Stone Island badge, which is crafted out of embroidered nylon mesh to prevent weighing down the jacket’s sleeve. With the down injected directly into the padded bags that encase the garment, the construction method emphasizes the jacket’s lightweight qualities.
The multi-pocket vest is made from diagonal nylon backed by a PVC cover. The back portion is covered in a technical polyester mesh with nylon twill tapings. The center bib section features zip compartments, including pockets and room for the packable, fold-away hood. For more storage, the vest boasts bellows pockets on either side of the torso section.

As noted on the interior label, The Compact process comes from the treatment used on military uniforms, which were sewn in prisons and then washed at temperatures above 130 degrees Celsius. Garments treated in this way shrunk so much that they had to be made 50% bigger. Stone Island uses this treatment to create a range of unique fabrics. This Compact treated smock is a collared pullover in white cotton poplin with an external hood. The smock boasts a central pouch pocket, along with branded button closures on the seam at the bottom hem. For a customized fit, there are drawstring closures on each sleeve and along the bottom hem of the garment.
